Subsequently AFGRI Logistics expanded to serve and provide a wide range of services to various divisions within the group. Logistics also proved itself to external customers with a variety of value adding services.

Business focus is centered on the agricultural industry and affiliated services. Road and rail haulage, coordination and management form the basis of the business, with diversification into relevant supporting structures within the larger AFGRI group

• providing industry solutions via utilizing internal logistical skills, AFGRI infrastructure and volume to negotiate and create efficiency for customers
• providing service via a committed internal fleet, dedicated contractors and rail service

SERVICES

Logistical and general transport services are offered to a wide customer base, via a network of transport contractors ranging from free lance to dedicated contractors and even AFGRI's own vehicles. A diverse range of services were developed to address customer needs

Key account management

Customized operational service packages are developed to address individualized customer needs. Dedicated staff is allocated to specific customers and take accountability to manage and represent the customer in specific operational areas. The service includes on site representation, management responsibilities (e.g. stock level management) and dedicated operational functions (e.g. site flow management)

Broking

This segment entails acting as intermediary between parties in providing a transport service by utilizing external transport contractors to service customers' needs at the lowest cost. Transport coordinators are assisted by an advanced administrative system in the management of administrative detail far beyond the normal load coordination and execution functions. Both road and rail alternatives are available to customers

Own Fleet

AFGRI Logistics offers its customers the flexibility of service with its own vehicles. In an environment of truck capacity shortage this gives additional peace of mind towards providing the best possible service and delivery guarantees

Special projects like an Owner Driver project aimed at uplifting drivers created benefits for all concerned drivers, AFGRI customers and Logistics

Diversification strategies into Coal Logistics help the business with product / commodity cyclical exposure and provide flexibility for transport operators

AFGRI Logistics operates from an internet based operating system to manage, control and administer the tonnage moved. This allows transporters and contractors alike to access operational information remotely

Handling and Storage

AFGRI's Handling and Storage Division provides secure storage of agricultural products throughout South Africa, Malawi and Zambia. Its infrastructure comprises 67 grain silos across the country with a total capacity of more than 4 million tons and grain stores in Zambia and other African countries. Grain loading points are also strategically situated in South Africa.

Grain is handled and stored separately according to grade and other characteristics. Although the focus is on the handling and storage of grain, handling and storage services for other markets are also included in the strategic vision of the division. Through world-class leading edge technologies in silo inventory management (ART), bunker silo storage and electronic silo certificates, AFGRI Handling and Storage is positioned as the leader in the handling and storage of grain.
